I'm currently listening to Bowling for Soup's "almost" a song not unlike many others that goes though a laundry list of regrets and missed opportunities. And as I'm listing i can help but feel better, not about anything in particular just better. The phenomenon is not something that's new to me nor is it something I believe to be exclusive to me. So I must posit the question why so we as humans have such a fascination with tragedy. The conclusion I have come to is human beings, on the whole, possess a great love of empathy. To feel as another feels, to weep for the sorrows of others brings a sense of wholeness, that is if not beyond joy separ
